‘Adoration’ represents how my practice is informed by the effectiveness of drawing. Drawing, as an adaptable discipline, allows me to document important moments and ideas. Pencil and paper give me full control with what I portray, allowing endless creative and technical possibilities. As a realism drawing, ‘Adoration’ showcases my use of traditional embossing and mark-making techniques to achieve complex implied textures and details that establish a vivid and personal sensory experience. My dog’s distinct greying fur pattern is captured as he rests his head on my favourite jumper. Through this, I establish an intimate moment of connection, adoration and familiarity between us. Followingly, this reflects how my drawings are guided by conceptual motivations. I explore the human condition and natural world through the portrayal of animals and humans, considering shared inherent experiences.
