Cape works en-plein air, exposing herself to the unknown chaos of the Elements of Nature. Creating instinctual and emotional marks, using unconventional approaches and locally found mediums. Burnt trees for charcoal, branches for brushes, soil as pigment - mixing her own inks. Drawing is the crux of Cape’s practice, where she instinctually captures the essence within the landscape. Free from the constraints of a studio, Cape is able to authentically capture our very human condition with it’s contrast of survival and decay, beauty and horror.
