Cape’s process has always been deeply anchored in drawing. Believing the hand drawn mark to be the most immediate, authentic, and genuinely sexy form of transcribing what inspires her imagination.
Working en plein air, exposing the paper and her process over days to the uncontrollable elements of Nature. She uses locally collected materials, such as pigment, charcoal, ash and rust. Branches, sticks and bones to draw with. Excited by the uncontrollable elements, she physically and emotionaly wrestles with its chaos, drama, and excitement. Seeking to bring together the poles of beauty and horror, survival and decay. That of our very human condition, in all it’s power, poetry and savagery.
