Chrysalis

Artist Statement

I use the pictorial space to represent humanity as a way of making sense of the unique experience of our species. I think about the complex nature of our internal and external interactions, the subjectivity of experienced reality, empathy, and existing in a space and time. As a result, my figures often emerge from large spaces and imbue isolation and solitude.

Anastasia has held several solo and shortlisted exhibitions including, Lyn McCrae Memorial Drawing Prize, Adelaide Perry Prize, Paul Guest Prize, Flanagan Art Prize, Rick Amor Drawing Prize and Prospect Drawing Prize with collections included in Adelaide Perry Gallery, St Patrick’s college, and Loretto Mandeville Hall. Her work also appears in Manifest International Drawing Annual and Studio Knack.
