Ever since I held a pencil, I’ve drawn my way through life. Drawing enables a spontaneous and intimate engagement with the world. It sculpts and enriches my experience of life deeply. Drawn in rapture, these works were each created in the space of a song. Completely absorbed in the music, my pencil, with a life of its own, swiftly recorded the sounds and movements of the musicians. A beautiful sense of wonder swept over me while these drawings were born, appreciating the physical and metaphysical lines at play. When voice and movement were gentle and slow my pencil sensitively glided over the paper. As the songs built up, exciting the pencil, marks became stronger and faster. Then the guitarist’s hands, a-blur in rapid motion, and the violinist’s vigorously moving bow, propelled my hands to spiritedly follow in direction, time and vigour. The final work, a visualisation of heavenly moments.
