Drawing is a way to expand the materiality of my work. I draw on multiple surfaces, drafting film and paper, use a diverse range of media including, dry pigment, graphite, water colour, tempera, and gold leaf.
This diversity allows the image I am working on to emerge simultaneously in a controlled and random way. The choice of media is informed by a particular object or subject, in this case dense graphite for the bird silhouettes and watercolour for the luminescent landscape and mosaics.
Drawing also allows the potential for a work to be complete and incomplete at the same time.
