Paradoxically, discovering a drawing stylus on my recycled Galaxy phone has given me an unobtrusive method of drawing humanity in places where I would have felt intrusive and self conscious with paper and pencil. Figure drawing and painting has always been an important part of my work but, in a world saturated with tech images, more often with the aid of photo references. Accepting the challenge of working entirely from life ,trusting embedded skills and visual memory has been both frustrating and creatively liberating
I drew these musicians, at the P.U.G. Mens Shed in Glebe ,where I am a member. As well as woodworking, this Shed has several bands and music groups. An ideal collection of subjects. I have endeavoured to capture likeness and attitude of individuals using the traditional pen and Watercolour plus art marker on paper.
