"Observed Form" is made by debossing watercolour paper with a river stone. This slow, deliberate act of mark-making binds time to the page. Where stone is pressed into paper the surface becomes shiny and catches the light–the drawn line is just a subtle trace of this repetitive process.

I think of the stone as history materialised, its smooth surface holds the movement of water and weather over millennia. In turn, the drawing carries a sense of ongoingness, a reminder that the present is threaded into a much longer unfolding shaped by forces both ancient and intimate.

This drawing distils form to its essence, collapsing the flow of time into a single resonant movement. This drawing, operating outside of what is visible to photographic technology, is hard to capture. Instead, the work asks to be encountered in person, with presence over time.
