The majority of my practice involves developing an image through the process of drawing. I reach back in time to dwell on old master drawings or drawings and watercolours from the 19th and 20th century. Drawing allows me to explore a variety of subjects and ideas in diverse ways.
'Oh well! stamp for a letter to Bill' blends early Australian images of wildlife within a Von Guerard colonial landscape and an early Australian Stamp issue. Images from the New Zealand painter Bill Hammond's metaphysical dreamscapes and landscapes have been graphically transposed into the composition.
