Drawing is the basis of my arts practice. Self-Portrait No. 426 is one of a series of 426 self-portraits completed over 13 years, documenting the ageing process through sustained observation. Returning to the same subject over time has allowed me to record subtle changes that are only revealed through repeated drawing. The work reflects my interest in drawing as a way of looking closely, where each portrait is both a record of a particular moment and part of a larger body of work.
