Making a drawing with ink on rice paper is, for me, a vulnerable activity. The entire history of its making is visible in the finished work, exposing and recording all my thinking about the correlation between conceptual and technical decisionss.
In my drawing of a left/right arrow painted on the roadway, I refer to and even emulate surface damage caused by weather, traffic usage etc., with actions roughly echoing natural deterioration. Among other things, I see my drawing as a reminder of the choices we make regarding the environment.
