Drawing influences my art soon after the idea has fermented enough to make it take form. Making marks in graphite on paper are the necessary first step in taking the concept on a complicated journey towards a possible completion.
The artwork submitted started in this way with a series of graphite drawings. My intention was to show the emotional experiences of freedom, connection and responsibility felt by the two boys on the beach.
Showing a sensibility to my materials was next step in the process.
