Window with Patterned Wallpaper and Spider Chrysanthemums
This drawing started as a preliminary study, I restricted myself to pencils, predominantly a 2B grade, with the occasional addition of a 4B and 6B to increase the contrast. Restricting the implements and choice of mediums focussed my attention Soley on the drawing; what I was seeing and how can I best describe what was in front of me. I would spend a few hours working on the drawing and it provided an opportunity to escape into the simple embellishment of establishing tone and detail, at times a two-to-three-hour engagement, and as it so often is, the efforts appeared invisible.
