David Harrex
Born 1929, Hobart. Painter, graphic designer, teacher. Studied with Jack Carrington Smith, Hobart Tech 1952-56. Worked for the Tasmanian Education Department as a Semior Graphic Designer.
Solo and group exhibitions: 1968-88 Freeman Gallery, Hobart; Wynne Prize 1964-67. Numerous awards include Muswellbrook (Drawing), Bathurst, Bendigo, Ballarat (watercolour). Represented: QVMAG; TMAG; Artbank; several regional galleries and corporate collections including ANZ and Commonwealth Bank, Hobart. Exhibits Drawing Room, Salamanca Collection, Hobart. Overseas study trip UK and France 1995.
