George Davis

George is a Tasmanian artist who lives and works in Hobart. Studied at the Royal Academy Schools under Bernard Fleetwood-Walker(1892-1965) and in his early career travelled in UK , Ireland & Europe.

Was a part-time teacher, painting Hobart Technical College (under Carrington Smith) and later for the Adult Education Board. He has held many solo shows and from 1951 has exhibited in too many group exhibitions to mention here.
George was commissioned by the Tasmanian Arts Advisory Board for a series of drawings and paintings of Tasmania ‘s islands. Visited Macquarie , Goose, Fisher and Albatross Islands, won the Island Inspired Minister’s Award in 2009 and has written many papers on birds for various publications.
