Rachel Ellis
She was born in Adelaide, 1967.
Studied at COFA, UNSW, Sydney; BA (Visual Art), 1988 and M Art (by coursework), 1993. Rachel has received a number of awards including the Blake Prize for Religious Art, 1996, the Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarship, 1997, the Inaugural Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing in 1996 and the Central West Regional Artist’s Award in 2010. Her work is held in public and private collections including the AGNSW, Macquarie Bank and St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta.

Rachel lives and works in Bathurst, NSW and is represented by King Street.
She is highly regarded for the subtle geometry of her drawings of urban subjects – interiors, inner city backyards and roof tops. A devout Christian she won the Blake Prize in 1996 with a powerful drawing of the washing of Christ’s feet.
