Reinis Zusters
Born 1922 of Latvian parents died IN 1999. Studied in Latvia and part time in Germany and the National Art School, Sydney 1950-52. As a modern painter in oils, watercolours and mixed media Reinis had too many exhibitions to list and exhibited in many significant awards.He is represented in NGA, Canberra, and state galleries of NSW, SA, Qld, Tas and NT, regional galleries and many private collections. Zusters had many overseas study tours and was the recipient of the Bronze Prize at the 1990 Osaka Triennale. He received the Order of Australia in 1994.
With an abiding belief in promoting and expanding awareness of the visual arts, together with his prolific Australian themed artworks, Zusters’ legacy was to bring a deeper understanding and appreciation of his adopted country.
